Well the 7th July 2012 was a trip down memory lane and back to my motoring roots. The first car I drove was a Citroen GS Pallas and the first I owned was Citroen 2CV Charleston. The 2CV is the butt of so many jokes, but for me it is without a doubt something very special. It is what motoring is all about FUNand there is something very loveable about its quirky charm that puts a smile on my face every time I see one.
So why don’t I own one, and I am not sure is the answer, I sold my 2CV in 1990 and bought a Granada what a mistake and a costly one at that. I then traded that for a Mini Cooper in 1993 which I still have and drive. It is equally special and I suppose the reason I didn’t get another 2CV. I suppose the real answer is a bigger garage. Of course my other love is motorbikes and it felt strange turning up on a 1700cc twin to drool over the 375/425/602cc twins but what a great day I had.
A complete surprise for me on the day were the attendees from the MZ Riders club. I used to love MZ’s and had a TS125, TS150 and ETZ250. What a real day filled with my heritage.

I am happy to send photos to anyone by email or a real print by arrangement. Any photos sent would be minus the watermark of course as long as they are for private and personal use. If you enjoy the photos or have asked for a copy you might like to make a donation to either the Royal British Legion or Cancer Research UK I am sure both charities would appreciate it and it makes my effort and time seem all the more worthwhile.
