Armed Forces Day is a national date set by the Ministry Of Defence. Events take place around the country and give the public the chance to show their support for the Armed Forces both current and past. Coventry celebrated the day with a thanksgiving service in the Holy Trinity Church which was followed by a parade through Broadgate.
Whilst the weather tried its hardest to be a distraction the parade was a magnificent sight and the public showed their support with rapturous applause. The late planning of the event and from my observation a general lack of publicity all combined to keep the numbers in attendance down. Lets hope next year the event is better publicised and the day is exploited to its full potential. This years event was in question and without the intervention of the local RBL members almost certainly wouldn’t have happened, lets hope that lessons have been learnt and next year the day will be even better with a far greater number of displays and an even bigger parade to truly honour those who are serving and have served in the past.
We are pleased to offer a small gallery of photos which we hope captured the flavour of the day and the can be viewed by clicking on the photo above or here. As always any comments are welcomed. If you are really impressed the photos should encourage you more than ever to make a donation to our supported charity by clicking on the Poppy Appeal . Ultimately even small change will all make a difference so please click that link. If you would like copies of any of the images please contact me
