We have entered into the period leading up to Remembrance Sunday and the Royal British Legion has launched its Poppy Appeal for 2013, so I thought I would add this gallery of photos I took in the Summer as my own special tribute. Whilst out one Sunday afternoon I found this field of Poppies near the village of Ravensthorpe in Northamptonshire. The farmers crop had failed a couple of times and the soil had been worked time and time again. This magnificent display of Poppies took hold and it was a photographic opportunity to good to miss.
Next year to commemorate the start of the First World War, one of the schemes put forward is for the public to show their support by planting poppies in memory of those that fought. Hopefully this type of scene will be repeated up and down the country next year as we pay tribute to the gallant men and women that battled in the war, both for those that paid the ultimate sacrifice as well as all those who strove to make sure we are able to live our lives the way we do today.
We have posted a small gallery of photos and they can be opened by clicking on the small photo or here. As always any comments are welcomed. If you are really impressed these photos should encourage you more than ever to make a donation to our supported charity by clicking on the Poppy Appeal . Ultimately even small change will all make a difference so please click that link.
