A message on Birdguides alerted me to the presence of a Hoopoe about 15 miles from home. It was about an hour later but as I had never seen one in the UK before I figured it was worth the drive. Fortunately turning into the lane I saw a good line of cars which hopefully meant the bird was there. Sure enough it was and these photos are a record of my UK tick.
The bird was feeding well about 50 metres across the car park and seemed quite content to ignore the gallery of watchers.
