Galanos House is one of 6 Royal British Legion Care Homes and the Royal British Legion Riders Branch have always enjoyed an excellent relationship with the home. On the 4th July 2013 the staff had organised a themed day celebrating the 4th July and as part of those celebrations had invited riders from the RBLR and the Vulcan Riders Association to visit the home and join in the festivities.
The residents gathered to watch the bikes arrive and enjoyed the Roaring Thunder of the engines. Nearly all the residents enjoyed looking around the variety of bikes and as can be seen from the photos there was a great atmosphere including trying on some of the gear. The homes oldest resident who is 103 had a look round the bikes and also recounted her days of riding pillion although she thought it best not to have a go. On behalf of everyone who attended I would just like to say again what an honour it was to be invited to share our passion for bikes with you and to thank you for the warmth of your hospitality.
It was a time of celebration but also reinforces the work the Legion do and the importance of raising as much money as we can for the Legion.
