One of the big events of the Queens Diamond Jubilee was the lighting of over 4200 beacons across the world. The first beacon was lit in Tonga and the last beacon was lit by Her Majesty The Queen. The closest one to where i live was at Brinklow. The beacon was sited on “The Tump” which is the old motte of Brinklow Castle. It is one of the best examples in the country and there was a good turn out of villagers and others who had travelled to the event.
The lighting of the beacon was taking place at 10.15 and there were a few fireworks prior to its lighting and a larger display after it had been lit.
The gallery of photos can be reached by clicking on the small photo. The pictures can be viewed as a slide show and by clicking on the various symbols there are a choice of options available such as increasing the picture size, opening an information box which offers brief descriptions of the photos. Clicking on the camera symbol in the caption box will give you a variety of information about the camera settings which I know some people find interesting.
